Edwin Tan, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of CapBay, brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of financial dynamics to the company. His extensive career at Deloitte Australia as a Corporate Finance Senior Analyst allowed him to develop a robust skill set. During his tenure, Edwin was deeply involved in various aspects of corporate finance including M&A transactions, IPO forecast reviews, and both vendor and acquisition due diligence. He also honed his skills in valuation, further solidifying his expertise in the fintech sector.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Commerce, specialising in Applied Finance and Accounting, from the University of Queensland. In 2014, he expanded his educational pursuits at the University of Oxford, where he obtained a Master’s Degree in Financial Economics and was honored on the Dean’s List. It was at Oxford that Edwin forged crucial connections with his future CapBay co-founders, Xing Xian and Darrel Ang.
Founded in 2016, CapBay has evolved into a pioneering marketplace in Malaysia, earning recognition as the leading and fastest-growing P2P supply chain financing player addressing the financial needs of thousands of SMEs. Capbay has disbursed $550M+ in loans, acquired Kenanga Capital Islamic, became the only Malaysian fintech to be listed in CNBC’s “Top 200 Global Fintech Companies” and won “Fintech Startup of The Year” by The Asset Triple A Digital Awards. Today, CapBay has expanded into Thailand and Singapore, with plans to expand further across Southeast Asia.
In September 2023, CapBay was selected at Endeavor’s 40th Virtual International Selection Panel.
