Gil Carmo is the Co-founder and CEO of iMotorbike, a leading e-commerce platform specializing in the pre-owned motorbike market in Southeast Asia

Gil Carmo’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 12 when he started selling mobile phones online through mIRC chat rooms, sparking his passion for e-commerce and digital business. After earning his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Gil was invited to establish the Chamber of Commerce of Portugal in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. At the same time, he took on the leadership role at Saigon Interiors, a factory producing high-end goods for prestigious clients worldwide.

His career took him to Lazada Malaysia as Project Manager, where he built and optimized key operational departments. He then joined ShopBack as Country Manager, leading the company’s expansion into Malaysia. Under his leadership, ShopBack achieved a remarkable milestone, reaching 4 million GMV within just a year of operation in Malaysia.

Gil founded iMotorbike in 2016, initially a motorbike-focused news portal and classifieds platform in Kuala Lumpur. The company quickly became Southeast Asia’s leading online marketplace for motorbike dealers, raising $850K in early funding. In 2021, iMotorbike pivoted to directly buying and selling motorbikes, meeting growing demand in the preowned market. With significant expansion, the company opened its first store, entered the Vietnamese market, and launched innovative solutions to improve operations.

In December 2024, Gil was selected at Endeavor’s 101st International Selection Panel.

iMotorbike is Southeast Asia’s leading e-commerce platform specializing in the pre-owned motorbike market. Operating both retail and wholesale models, iMotorbike buys, refurbishes, and resells motorbikes, offering sellers hassle-free transactions and buyers a fully managed process. With expansions into Malaysia and Vietnam, the company is leveraging tech-driven solutions to optimize operations. Backed by a $10M Series A extension in November 2024, iMotorbike is focused on refining unit economics, strengthening partnerships, and expanding geographically.
