BFM

Malek Ali is the founder of BFM, Malaysia's first business radio station.

Within 18 months of its inception in 2008, BFM successfully managed to break into the traditional radio media industry, previously dominated by established media conglomerates and pioneered new frontiers in online content.

Malek has built himself a career of constantly bringing new products to market. He was part of the pioneer team of JobStreet, Malaysia’s most successful internet company, and Southeast Asia’s largest online employment portal. He has also led the development and deployment of new mobile services to Malaysian and regional markets as Head of Mobile Operations for Yahoo! Southeast Asia, as well during his tenure as Head of Mobile Content for Maxis. In one of his first entrepreneurial ventures, Malek founded and launched KLClassifieds, Malaysia’s first all classifieds publication.

A lawyer by training, Malek was a management consultant with The Boston Consulting Group, and a lawyer with Allen & Overy, a UK-based international law firm. Malek has a law degree from the University of Bristol, as well as an MBA from Harvard Business School.

BFM is Malaysia’s only independent radio station, focused on business news and current affairs.
