Sathis Manoharen

MR. D.I.Y.

Sathis is currently the VP of Group Strategy at MR. D.I.Y.

Sathis was appointed as Regional Head of Cargo, AirAsia and AirAsia X in July 2009. He started his career in the aviation industry with AirAsia in October 2008 in the Group CEO’s office. The Regional Head of Cargo portfolio encompasses both AirAsia & AirAsia X cargo development and operations. He led the cargo team to win 4 world awards and 3 Asian level awards for AirAsia and AirAsia X. Sathis executed cargo related projects in South East Asia, East Asia and a few countries in Europe.

Before being a member of the AirAsia family, Sathis was a management consultant with Accenture, primarily working in the Oil & Gas management consulting projects. He completed consulting projects in Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and China. He started his career with Foster Wheeler on Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Plant and Natural Gas piping projects. Prior to working in Accenture, he worked for ConocoPhillips downstream. With ConocoPhillips, he obtained his Certified Six Sigma Black Belt qualification. He worked on Six Sigma projects in Kuala Lumpur, London, Prague and Hamburg.

Sathis had a brief stint with My Teksi (Now Grab) in 2014 as a Regional Head of Operations for Philippines and Indonesia, an immense Tech start-up experience gained in spearheading operations for South East Asia’s largest on demand vehicle booking mobile app. In Philippines, Sathis started with a business turn-around project and then managing the business on a growth mode. In Indonesia, his primary role was to help set-up the business from ground zero, i.e., setting-up the office, hiring the pioneer team and managing the initial operations.

In early 2015, Sathis joined Creador, a Private Equity firm based in Malaysia with offices in Indonesia and India. Sathis joined the Post Deal/Value Creation team in Creador called C+. Sathis spent some time in the portfolio companies in Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam executing projects in the payments vertical (e-wallet, mPOS, EDC terminals, payment gateway and electronic payment solutions as well as mobile top-ups), setting up an e-commerce platform (hiring key members, payment gateway solutions, warehouse set-up, WMS, CRM, data analytics & performance marketing initiatives) for a KLSE listed retail company, ideation and execution of a fully automated warehouse operating via Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) and executing the growth strategy of the KLSE listed retail company in Indonesia.

Sathis joined MR DIY in January 2021 as the VP of Group Strategy & Corporate Finance. His primary function is to set-up MR DIY’s brick and mortar retail business in international markets. Working together with the MR DIY project team in Malaysia and Turkey, MR DIY Turkey was launched in 11 months from project inception (setting up legal entities, retail sites selection, hiring of management team, supply chain structure set up, etc) to the maiden store opening in Istanbul.

MR. D.I.Y. is the largest home improvement retailer in Malaysia. The company retails a variety of household, hardware and electrical products. MR. D.I.Y. prides itself on being the low cost leader by emphasizing on operational efficiency and aspires to expand its footprint across South East Asia.
